My wife Tammy and I live in Springfield, Mo. with our three children. Tammy's daughter Brittany 20yrs, my daughter Sean 13yrs, and my son Jacob 12 yrs. I teach second grade in the town of Marionville which is about 30 minutes west of Springfield. This is where I met Tammy six years ago. She teaches first grade across the hall from me, and because of this we see each other all day everyday (luckily she is my best friend). This trip will be the longest we have been apart and which may prove to be the toughest part of the race. I began kayaking last year and have loved every moment I have been out. This race will be the first for me, and let me tell you I am pumped. My goal for this race is simple: too get my feet wet (not literally) and to grow as a kayaker by simply finishing the race. At the moment I have a 11ft Sedona, Mainstream. She won't be the fastest but should give me a comfortable ride. I am looking forward to traveling down the Missouri River, seeing the sights and spending quality time with God and Mother Nature.
