Hello! I am an MR340 2022 participant hopeful. I'm interested in designing and building my own watercraft for competition. What race officials would I contact to ensure my designs meet safety and competition requirements?

Rule 31 says to "Ask questions before you start building," so here I am Smiley

It's pretty much an open book - as long as it's human powered.  There's 13 or so divisions so it's just a matter of where you fit in (IE:  solo, tandem, pedal drive etc).  Check the roster thread above - it will show all divisions.

MoEngineer - go ahead and contact the Race Director, Scott Mansker for any specific questions you might have. scott@rivermiles.com

Previous post is right on though. The divisions are pretty wide. The main thing is that the boat is human powered with no mechanical assist.
