Take note of the river gage Bro....and report back on depth.....even a pic or two would be great.....I love that section of river.   Hope I have my v7 by then....but with all the water we have been seeing....she might be a clean run for any boat.....would be good to know.

Hopkins

The gauge is at 2.56 feet and flowing 1280 kcfs. I'm taking the v10sport so I won't have to worry about bailing water if it's raining. By the end of the weekend I will post more info and keep you all updated as the race gets closer.

Brian.

Jon

This is the perfect river for that boat. I helped Matt build that boat with rivers like the Gasconade and the Kaw in mind. No worries for you or the metal malitia here.

The perfect boat for it, but she's sleeker than this engine is used to!  The 'test' would be all about ME.

Change of plans. Didn't take the v10sport. Instead took the rhino lined aluminum sled. Marilyn wanted to tag along so we braved the 80% chance of rain with a few beers. The river level was good enough for any pretty sleek machine you wanted to paddle. I would even go so far to say that an understern would have been safe today with good river reading skills.

The river gauge said 2.4 feet and 1130 kcfs. For any one keeping notes @ 3.2 miles in to the course there a few trees to maneuver around. And @ 5 miles the river splits we took the faster water to the left and got pushed into a tree. I would recommend the right channel for the novice. Other than that it was clear sailing for a total of 21 miles on the day.

Going to run the course Sunday. Should be good. The Gasconade river is at 5 ft pushing 4770 cfs. I will let you know how it was after the weekend. Anyone wanting to tag along let me know.

The course was great at 4.6 ft. Not much rain in the forecast, should be a very fun time. See everyone Saturday morning.

We started about 11:00 Sunday morning...

Unless you meaning average speed. We didn't exactly kill it but ended with a 8.5 mph average with a top speed of 14 mph. But that was a short burst through a short stretch of faster water. Really cool to 10 mph on the gps several times.

We may be able to get down there and race this weekend but I was curious if anyone was shuttling people back to the start. It's a 4 hour drive for us to come down so two vehicles are out of the question. would there be anyone willing to run me back up to my truck while leaving my boat at the finish?
Thanks, Rusty

A friend and I are planning to come down tomorrow morning, and we have a couple of questions:

Is there a safety/pre-race meeting?  If so, when?

Any chance I could get a ride from someone from the finish to the start before the race, and/or George could get a ride back afterward?  We need to stage our vehicles and are trying to eliminate the back-and-forth.

How's the river lately?  We've never been on the Gasconade.  What should we expect?

Thanks,
--Jeff Z.

The safety meeting will be at about 8:15

Race Start at 9am

The river level is good right now it's about 3.25 ft on the gauge in Jerome. Shouldn't be much of a problem for anything you want to paddle.

As for a shuttle give me a call in the am. I am in Jerome and planning to leave here about 6:30 to get the the registration table set up. Or we'll do what we can to get you back to the top afterwards.  Several have asked and others have volunteered to help shuttle.

Thanks to all that came out and participated. Also to those who Volunteered and helped to make this race a really good time. We had
22 paddlers   in
13 boats    from
4 states
1 really good day.

I would like some feedback from anyone as to how I could improve this event for next year.

Also if anyone would like stickers from this race please text or email me your address. I have some left over that are 1 3/8 inches and some 4 1/4 inches. The smaller ones I used for the back of the medals.

Thanks again and we'll see you on the river soon.
