2015 GAS RACE (Read 14320 times)

Paddle People

I love this race and would love to pick It up as a First-time race director. I have to ask though "Who's in?"

It has come to my attention that there is a bit more than dropping a few bills and paddling like your ass is on fire to host a race.

I'm willing to put forth the effort if there is enough interest.

Comments welcomed.  Smiley

Brian,

I'm happy to discuss things with you, and help you get started.  The Gas is a great race.  I'd like to see it continue.

Great scenic course for this race!

Brian, if you were to proceed with this race, do you think it would fall on June 20th, the day before Father Day (as in years past) or do you have another date in mind? I'm just curious as the Freedom Race is the following weekend...June 27th...and it is near impossible to make it to all of the races as it is especially with all of the new ones slated for this year.

Joe. I will be calling you.

Ron. I would like to have kept it on father's day weekend however with the freedom race the next weekend I'm leaning towards the 13th.

Kent.  I have called the campground and won't be able to talk to the owner till Tuesday afternoon.

Thank you all. More to follow.

I'm down as long as nothing comes up that would mean otherwise. Will talk to my Bowman. How much does it cost?

The Gasconade is a great river. Very nice, clear water and lots of variation in current, everything from still water to rapids. Very fun to paddle.

2.0

I agree. So much so that I bought my own little piece of the shore line. Good clean water fun for family floats and fishing.

Not dodging the question of "how much will the race cost?" But I haven't spoke with the owner of the campground where I would like to finish the race. I kinda need to know what their expectations are.

When I know something I will post up right here. I am as excited to host this race as much as everyone else is to paddle it.

I'm definitely in... Just remember the last 2 or 3 miles turns into a party zone in the middle of summer...with a lot of jon boats

Need some input from all you paddle junkies.

This race has typically been done on father's day weekend however with the freedom race the next weekend I don't want to over burden the calendar. There for my thoughts are to move it to the week before. June 13 2015 puts it 3 weeks after South Dakota and 2 weeks before the Freedom Race.

Thus decision is also based on a conversation with the Boiling Springs Campground stating that Father's day weekend tends to be busy for them. So if you the racers are set on Father's day speak up now.

Feel free to PM, call, text or email

Scott

You can add this to the list.

It WILL happen. Either June 13th or 20th.
