The 31st and final Hump Day Race of 2018 marks the close of another great season of HD5k races! 19 people in 12 boats and 5 SUPs raced in chilly / breezy conditions with two new divisional personal bests including Ryan Slebos and Joshua Sexton paddling together for the first time in the Mens Tandem K2 division in the Epic V8 Double Surf Ski with a time of 24:35 (7.61 mph), and Andy Richardson in the Epic V7 Surf Ski with a time of 32:34 (5.75 mph). The full results are attached with the personal bests in green. Great race everyone! Thanks to Dave Lopez for helping with taking times. And special thanks to everyone that comes out each week to race, help take times, and spectate / cheer on the racers! Big thanks to Frank Dreiling “The Mayor of Shawnee Mission Park” for dragging those buoys out each week, and for being a great ambassador to the sport of SUP racing in this area. This was our 6th season of HD5k races and it just keeps getting better each year. It’s awesome to see how this sport has grown in our area over the past decade, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the next decade brings. Season 7 starts on March 13th 2019. See you all there!

p.s. Stay tuned for info on the end of season HD5k party that Dheeraj is hosting at his house on Nov 10th.

The first HD5k race of 2019 is in the books. The conditions were tough, but 4 people braved the high winds to race tonight. The conditions killed any chance of personal bests, but kudos to Mark Stevenson, Johnnie Ortiz, Frank Dreiling, and Angie Kelley for getting on the water tonight! Results are attached below. See you all next week. Hopefully there will be a little less wind.

We had a little bit of a storm delay, but it turned out to be a great night to race in the calm after the storm! Although there were no personal bests tonight there were still many impressive times early in the season with couple of people coming within seconds of their best times, and one being within 3 seconds of a course record. Great race! The results are attached. Thanks to Dave Lopez for taking times. See you all next week!
