Good race last night! Conditions were muggy and breezy, which made it difficult for most to achieve new personal bests, but at least we didn’t have any storms to deal with! We had 21 people race in 15 boats and 6 SUP’s with one person achieving a new divisional personal best for this course, which was Lyn Marie Harris in the Stellar Apex T Kayak with a time of 32:22 (5.78 mph). Good race last night in the pesky south wind! We had 22 people race in 14 boats and 7 SUP’s with 4 people achieving new divisional personal bests for this course including Lyn Marie Harris in the Stellar Apex T Kayak with a time of 31:40 (5.91 mph), Wade McGuire in the Epic V7 Surf Ski with a time of 31:56 (5.86 mph), newcomer Jeremy “Pete” Peterson (Cervelo Squared) setting his baseline personal best on the X-Terra iSUP with a time of 56:30 (3.31 mph), and newcomer Melissa Miller setting her baseline personal best on the X-Terra iSUP with a time of 58:51 (3.18 mph). Another good race in tough conditions! Despite the 93 degree heat with a 106 degree heat index we had 22 people race in 12 boats and 9 SUPs with 4 new divisional personal bests for this course including Doug Robinett setting his baseline personal best in the Men’s Solo Outrigger Canoe division single blading the River Hawk OC1 with a time of 32:49 (5.70 mph), newcomer Matt Lyczak setting his baseline personal best in the 12’6” Delta Kayak with a time of 37:20 (5.01 mph), Victor Ortiz & Johnnie Ortiz setting their baseline personal best in the Men’s Tandem C2 division paddling the 18’ Sawyer Guide Special Canoe with a time of 41:11 (4.55 mph), and newcomer Kirk Kaiser setting his baseline personal best on the 14’ Starboard SUP with a time of 47:53 (3.91 mph). New personal bests for this course include Sam Kaiser in the Epic V10 Sport with a time of 31:19 (5.98 mph), Doug Robinett single blading the River Hawk OC1 with a time of 31:40 (5.91 mph), newcomer Aaron Waldrop setting his baseline personal best in the Epic 18X Sport Kayak with a time of 32:17 (5.80 mph), Mark Stevenson in his 21’ Home Built Kayak with a time of 33:07 (5.65 mph), Matt Lyczak in the 12’6” Delta Kayak with a time of 36:12 (5.17 mph), newcomer Chris Waldrop setting his baseline personal best in the Current Designs Extreme Kayak with a time of 36:41 (5.10 mph), Kelly Ruppelius on the 14’ Jimmy Lewis Stiletto SUP with a time of 43:18 (4.32 mph), Sherrie Ortiz and Johnnie Ortiz establishing a new course record in the Mixed Tandem C2 division paddling the 18’ Sawyer Guide Special Canoe with a time of 43:38 (4.29 mph), and newcomer Kevin Sampson setting his baseline personal best on the 12’6” Isle SUP with a time of 44:05 (4.25 mph). Looks like it turned out to be a great race last night! The sketchy weather conditions kept most people home, but conditions turned out good at Shawnee Mission Lake for the ones who did show up. There were 8 people racing in 4 boats and 4 SUPs with three people achieving new divisional personal bests for this course including Ryan Slebos setting a new course record in the Men’s Solo OC1 division single blading the River Hawk OC1 with a time of 26:49 (6.98 mph), Matt Lyczak in the 12’6” Delta Kayak with a time of 35:13 (5.32 mph), and Kevin Sampson on the 12’6” Isle SUP with a time of 41:26 (4.52 mph).
