Hello everybody! Thank you for the many great hugs and thanks regarding the document I made to help support crews on the MR340. It took me a lot of guts to post it here last June. What a surprise to be walking in Marshall's Wal-Mart and have complete strangers come up and hug me and give me a boost of confidence just when I needed it. And that man who took my last set of directions at the safety meeting and brought back a back of shredded paper saying the Hilton office had misunderstood and shredded my last set. He really got me good, then he handed me the 5 extra copies he had them make. What a jokester he must be!

Let's not reinvent the wheel or the tips and directions. Let's just revise them and make them better every year. I don't care if we take "Granny" off of them, I just thought such a document should be put together because every year the same questions get asked over and over and then the thread gets lost and the questions get asked again. I have started by putting in some suggestions that were given me in route of the 2012 MR340 and changing the date to the tentative 2013 MR340. If you have ANY suggestions please email me with them. My email and phone number is in the attached 2013 MR340 Tips doc.

Everyone was so very gracious and you just don't know how great you made me feel. The only major criticism was sometimes I have the GPS listed in the format 39.116094,-94.611318 and sometimes I have listed it in this format, 39°16'17.57"N93°19'49.95"W . I will strive to list both formats next year. If anyone wants to help with that project let me know please. I maxed out my Google Earth/Google Map skill. I did my best but I know it could be better.

One thing I didn't evidently stress for 2012 is that support crews must have a map, gps or googlemaps.com available. They have to be able to think for themselves if they go to a Wal-Mart or McDonalds for example how to get back on track to where they are supposed to meet up with their paddler. I have added a page to that effect before the directions begin.

Happy Paddling and Ground Crew Supporting to ALL!

UGH!!! Obviously I don't know how to make a pdf. Our daughter got the last word docs into a pdf for me when I posted in June but she said she was done and I should learn to do it on my own and she is busy at the girls school open houses. I have NO IDEA what went wrong. I downloaded a trail software pkg but it left out most of it when it converted it. I'll send the word doc to someone else and beg them to turn it into a pdf and send it back. Sorry for the inconvenience. Have a good laugh. My old computer doesn't "save as a pdf" Good night. I'll get the doc fixed in the next day or two. My tips and directions are better than my computer skills --- really!

We'll see if this attachment can be opened. I sure hope so. Thank you, Krista for converting the word document to a readable pdf and to Julie McMillin who offered to help also. You are welcome to post ideas in this thread or please email me or call me with suggestions. To a certain extent I think someone can read this brochure and really not "understand" and get that "ah ha" feeling until they have experienced the MR 340.  The whole goal of this endeavor is to save people frustration and tears on the MR 340. Thanks again for all of your wonderful comments this year.
