I am selling my Huki Outrigger.  This is a custom layup and modified specifically for distance river racing (reinforced hull, kickup rudder, thru hull hydration system, bungie storage, etc).  Even used, these boats go for for over $3000 and when new with shipping cost...this was a $3,600 boat.  These are hard to find in midwest and if you live near mid missouri, you can avoid the cost of shipping which has gone sky high these days.

I would consider a Kevlar (or similar layup) tandem canoe (Wenonah Minnesota II or similar tandem) or a higher end touring kayak (Seda Glider, QCC, etc) or even an Epic V10 sport or Epic V8.  Basically looking for something a little more family orientated, but sporty.  Both my kids may be interested in racing for fun (either solo or with parental units)…so tell me what you got…I might be interested. 

Both kids love the Epic V8 I just got…so could use another one of those…might even trade straight up for that.

Got some questions (Texas interest) and thought I would post reply here in case others would benifit:

The huki does fine with a bigger paddler.....unless you are in really big stuff like 6-8 foot swell,....its all good.....Jude at huki can confirm that.

I am 220 lbs and 6 feet tall...built like a football player (see first pic on rivermiles)....and I race the boat mostly on Missouri river where we get wind blown waves, serious,barge wakes and chop routinely  (won a few races on the boat and got in front of several surfski's to boot!)  The v1-x is perhaps the fastest flat water oc out there

The boat is set up for distance racing ....with extra bungies and hatches.  The jug passes thru the seat and into a screw out hatch hole. ....I have the original seat (long version, $140 value) and can swap that out for you...as for jug socket...you simply can screw in the water tight hatch cover if you are not racing distance.....also have two under stern rudders....you can switch out kick up rudder in a few minutes to either a 4 inch under stern or use the longer surf rudder under stern .....basically the boat can be converted back to ocean use in a few minutes (hatches in place, under stern rudder, etc)

The layup was custom from huki, with further modifications by me for taking hits, (that can come during river racing)......I build and modify boats a lot and all work is smooth and done well.

Basically from factory it was Kevlar on foam core for first 4 feet of hull....then vacuum bagged s-glass transitioning into Carbon (all on foam core) for mid hull and full carbon cockpit,and outrigger  AMA.  .deck is s-glass

This was a very light boat and was around 26-27 lbs stock.....I added a strip of 6 inch wide Kevlar down keel line and then carbon fiber on top of that.....really added stiffness to hull and protection from denting which all foam core boats are prone to.....still light...fully rigged the boat is still under 30 lbs

Note...I never damaged hull (I baby my boats), reinforcement was a proactive step.....she is in great shape and ready to go.

Fyi...a used v1-x from huki with these specs would be $3,200 or,higher and then the pain and expense of shipping...which ranges from $400-600 from california
