Nice footage, and great sportsmanship!

The "fellow paddler" is Deron Sugg paddling a Rainmaker.

Trivia: I used to own that boat and I sold it to Deron a few years ago.

Ditto those remarks.  I was the paddler at the beginning of the footage.   Shane didn't have to turn around but did and sacrificed about 10 minutes off his time.  He also picked up a bilge pump and part of a break apart wing paddle.  Meanwhile I was spending the time trying to maneuver my craft to help but found it difficult to turn a 21 foot outrigger with 2' swells.  Props to a great competitor and someone who IS the top SUP'er in the country!

the barge we passed during the freedom race, does anyone know what it carries?  its the one that has a lot of tanks on top of the barge.  We passed yesterday, it was heading upstream at a snails pass, barely making headway.  It didnt seem to be heavily loaded.  Was wondering if that is as fast as that boat goes or if its transporting some type of chemicals and thats as fast as they are allowed to go?  To compare other upstream barges loaded with rock or sand went by much faster.  was a heavy traffic day yesterday, we passed 4 barges in 50 miles, 6 if you count the 2 that went by right after we got off the water.
