Does anyone know why there were 400 spots in the 2011 roster and there are only 340 this year. I was hoping to to be able to get in this late since i was waiting to find out if i had a job until this past Friday.  Now that i know i kept my job and Vacation time i'm too late. All well i guess there's always next year!

Contact Scott. He usually maintains a waiting list and this early there is a chance you may still make it.

So I was looking at the roster and thought I saw a typo.  I saw a Tim and Libby Griffin.  At a closer look, I realized that there is actually a Tim and Libby Griffin on the roster.  So Ibby and I will have to try to meet up with these people.  Could cause a lot of fun confusion.  Looking forward to the race.

Can Los Humungos Familia have boat #0440?  Fauls (who are not electronicly inclined) asked me to request the number for them.

I will not be in the 340 this year as a paddler....rats Tongue

Simply do not believe my shoulder reconstruction will support an extreme ultra this year (my physical therapist said it could be one full year to be back in the game) ....if I tear out my repair...there is no second chance.....I am 47 and feeling my mortality Smiley

I Want to paddle for the rest of my time on this rock....more than do one particular crazy 340 mile race this year...and just know I would not be able to dial it back and would go into hammer mode down the river no matter what Roll Eyes....push through the pain till my shoulder went PoP Lips Sealed

Will still do lots of other short little bitty 50 mile races....as those are just a warm up events (we are so completely twisted here in Missouri.....USCA considers 10 miles a marathon distance Roll Eyes)....we are sick dude...and I love it Cool

I will however volunteer again to be in the lead safety boat again with Russ...and will this time go all the way to finish.....so expect to see me.....and I will be sure to shake your hand real hard at end of race and slap you on the back Tongue Wink....ok perhaps a gentle knuckle bump and wink will be better.........I know your pain....will likely get as little sleep....but at least my ass will not be taking to me in evil neurological morse code

Smiley

Sorry to hear it, Bryan but it must be the right decision.  Nobody knows your shoulder better than you.  And if you are thinking it's too soon... it MUST be too soon.  Because you love that course and distance.

Totally thrilled that you're willing to crew with Russ again.  Probably be 3 aboard that boat.  Russ, you and Greg (he was aboard with you guys last year through Lisbon) Good group.  It's at least a 3 man job pushing that boat non-stop and setting up all the checkpoints on the way.  And between the 3 of you, there are 4 good shoulders out of 6.  Not a bad ratio.

Ive got a good friend...who has run support along with Alma and kids on all my 340's....he would like to do the safety boat too....we can't come aboard due to work conflict until Glasgow...but will stay on board till finish and I can pilot thru the night to give Russ a break.......so ask Russ if 4 river rats is too many for the lonestar.......look forward to it Smiley

That should work.  He'll be a two man crew until Glasgow, then you guys can take over, let them sleep awhile, and then fix them some pancakes down in the galley when the sun comes up on Jeff City.

4 ain't bad if you get on at Glasgow.  He will have set up Lexington, Waverly, Miami and Glasgow by then, so the gear will be reduced.  Might be a River Relief crewman who does KC to Glasgow then hops on a River Relief boat there.

Anyway, the help is greatly appreciated.  Should be fun.

Welcome to www.projectathena.org as the sponsor of Women's Solo this year.  Awesome organization.  The actual prize money is donated by World Class Teams, INC who is a major sponsor of Project Athena.

1st Place: $300
2nd Place: $200
3rd Place: $100

Men's Tandem is now sponsored by www.OlatheFord.com

Men's Solo has a first place sponsor, www.paddleone.com, still seeking a second place sponsor of around $500 and a 3rd place sponsor of around $250  Let me know if you or your company are interested.

Several other divisions seeking sponsors.  Contact me with interest.

You will NOT regret a ground crew.  And he will have a great time.  I'll take care of it now.

Scott-
I need to revise my ground crew listing.  Ground crew for boat #3664 will be Lynne Beatty instead of Donna Porter.  (FYI-I will also have a SPOT Tracker).  Thanks.
