Symtoms may include uncontrollable eating, frequent naps, restless leg sydrome (also know as the power stoke) when sitting. Paddling all night in your sleep, dreams of getting washed over wing dikes, and near misses with barges. Unable to cross a river bridge without getting depressed. Sad

Last but not least: Bringing your kayak into the house to spend quality time with it. Eating meals, watching TV and movies, and taking naps in a survival blanket!  Roll Eyes

I think I need professional Help! Shocked

I'm with you on that Mark! Washed my boat and brought it in the house and I can still smell the seat in my boat! 340 miles+kayak seat+neoprene spray skirt= Lips Sealed stinky! I still have numb thumbs, pinkies and ring fingers! I can't wait to do it again in 2013!

Are you Mark that I finished the race with?

Not to worry, symptoms seldom last more than a year. Probably no more than nine months this time around.

For the next 3 days after the race I kept waking up in the middle of the night and getting dressed in a hurry trying to find my paddle and gear so I could get back on the river.  I was dream racing!  It took me a bout 5 minutes to figure out The race was over

Charles, I came in solo Friday afternoon. I decided to take it easy and enjoy the last two days of the race this year. This was my Forth and Final race until my grandson's are big enough too do it in a few years. Undecided

My daughter "River Chick" will represent the family next year.  Kiss

Still can't feel my little toes, but I think my butt has recovered!  Grin

Numb fingers on my left hand, right low back arthritis.  Finger nails & toe nails falling off, making the slow recovery.  At least my butt has healed from the road rash.  But hey, Katie & I had a great time!  I am going out to the lake to paddle today & might get on the river (MO or the Meramec) this weekend.  The weather is fabulous here & I want to take advantage of it.  I'v been out on my bike & love the riding & hiking.  A real nice change of pace.  Can't wait until next year!

Suffering from a lack of 340... characterized by a desire to paddle the Chicago Sanitation Canal, lurking on the forum, drooling over images of races past.  Started up the work on my new boat for 2012, but I fear that if I don't get a little water under me soon, I will forget how good it feels to glide

Is it possible to have pre340 syndrome?  Registration isn't even open yet. Last night I had a dream where I woke up it was race day, I had not attended the safety meeting, I didn't have my gear I rushed to get it. In my hurried state I forgot my Kayak.  Finally against all odds I made it to the river but I couldn't get  my boat to the channel. I could only get it a few inches off the bank.  I woke up my heart was pounding I was covered in sweat.

Honest to God, I didn't poop the entire race.  Not once!  I didn't even have an urge.  I didn't poop until the Saturday after the race finished - over 4 days after the race started.

Is that normal?  Anyone willing to discuss how that is possible?

To get back on topic, I've had some dreams.  But, most have been bizarre river race dreams.  Particularly, in one recent dream I was in a river race in the old Soviet Union and people kept shooting at me from shore.  It was like a Death Race.

I'm not sure if that is Post 340 Sydrome or not...

Post race dreams are always the same.  I'm back home and I get a call that someone is still out there and needs picked up.  And I start scrambling figuring out which safety boat to use to go get them.  They're sitting in my backyard in various stages of being ready.

I wake up and have to tell myself the race is truly over.  All accounted for and signed in.

"Last but not least: Bringing your kayak into the house to spend quality time with it."
A guy after my own heart.
No dining room table in my house, no chairs other than one lounger and one to pile clothes on, no couch.  Why not?  This way my exercise equipment and my Rob Roy fit in.  The Rob Roy is inside for a new fore deck.  It is just under 15 feet long and streatches into the living room area--small house.
I may just keep the Rob Roy inside all winter, I think it gives the house a certain rustic ambiance one dosen't find in most homes these days.

...as in January 1, 2012, at the witching hour.  Sounds like bad luck to me.  Creepy evil things happen during the witching hour.  I'd wait until at least 1:00 am to register.  Just saying...

... Yup .... Got THE syndrome!

Believe it or not, I recently got the feeling back into my little toes on left and right.  The next toes in on both sides have feeling but kinda that 'numb-yet-can-still-feel-um' feeling...  It is getting as each week I can notice improvement.  Weird.

Often I think of the time on the river and ponder the event, places, people ....  What a run!  Looking forward to doing it again!
