Ken.  Your boat did fine. I did not. We had to drop out at second check point due to neck injury. Saw many of your boats my friend. You did well in building them.  Want to buy one of your 27 footers back?  I think we want a 24 foot one.  Liter weight. Thanks bud

Here are the finished results (I'm missing info on 1 boat).  I'll start adding up total hours & adding those.  I hope everyone had a great time, whether you finished or not.  I hope friendships were made and disappointments were short-lived.  Once again, thanks for allowing me to be a part of it.

Thanks West.

Let me preface this next attachment by stating I am no scientist, as far as numbers go.  I have (I think) recorded finished times and placed them in order of finishing.  If I have made an error, it won't hurt my feelings to correct me.  You can send the correction over the forum, PM or email.  I will fix it.

BTW:  the correct times have been recorded for men's solo.  I used an asterisk to denote the time correction (just to keep me in line)  You know how we Hansen's are...you have to watch out.

(Grimace), here are the last results.

So on Mens Solo, the finish time is corrected to reflect a mass start, but are the checkpoint times in and out the actual time they went thru?

Josh,
Yes, it appears so to me. I recall you pulling up to wamego right behind us, and on the sheet it's got us at 8:36, and you at 8:39

Barbara!  You are AMAZING.  My favorite post-race ritual is to read the update thread... and see how many views it got!  Next 340 let's get you a webcam and you can just be live for 88 hours doing race reports.  That would be fun, right?

Hope you are getting some sleep.  Rest up for September if we can pull it off.

Barbara,

Thanks for all your hard work to track the 2011 Kawnivore as well as the similar good work that you have done for us in past MR340s.  The results with in and out times are so helpful in deconstructing the race after its finish.

First - Thanks to all the volunteers for everything.  You work so hard so us paddlers can pursue our quests.

Second - A rough count of results shows about 42 percent DNF rate for guys and 14 percent DNF rate for women.  ONE - count em - one DNF for women.  Wow.  Any speculation on the difference?

Girls rule and boys drool.
But that's just a theory!

Josh, correct.  All checkpoints are actual time.  The difference was deducted at the finish.

Scott, it's a no go on the webcam idea.  While I feel as if we are "one" during the race and I feel as if I'm there with y'all, I must admit I do  most of my best work in PJ's sipping a margarita while painting my toes and fingers watching TV in bed with my hair in curlers and my make-up mask on.  It's just not a vision I want to share.  Now, to have one at each checkpoint would be cool.

To Steve C., Karin & Vicki, thanks for the pictures from the checkpoints!  Those were awesome to see.

I'm ready for September...

Barbara

After looking through the results I thought it would be awesome if there would be a pic of the competitor(s) with their vessel as a link to help put names to faces!  Any chance of that in the future?

Vicky,
Sure boys drool but that ain't it. I have this theory see, girls just have it easier cause they're built all pointy and aerodynamic on the front end. Paddling for girls is a lot like sailing a catamaran. Boys being built more square and blocky are more like trying to sail a scow.
This is just a theory but its based on a lifetime of observation of aerodynamics of both women and boats.

Hi Barbara and Vicki,

According, official race ending times, please update the finish time for #8008. We were at one point mixed up with the "DNF" for another boat's times after checking in through the Tecumseh checkpoint, but were able to finish at Lawrence by the end of the race and were assured that we were in the race time limit.  Thank you for the updates!

P.S. We were the last tandem boat to hit Lawrence, and thank Ryan Mccoy for being AWESOME.
