Same Checkpoiints & Cutoff Times, but different dates...... Cheesy  Can't wait, & it should be a beautiful fall race.  Awesome on the Missouri river.  Folks can bike the Katy Trail & follow the racers from Booneville, MO down to St. Charles, MO!! Smiley

If you find yourself suddenly smack dab in the middle of hell, stopping is not an option.

Scott are we starting at 8:00 or would you start it earlier due to the days being shorter?

Days being shorter we'll also be in the dark at Kaw Point until about 7am.  We'll do our best to start as early as possible.  Not likely we'd have to do two starts with only about 100 boats.  We'll see as things draw closer.  Earlier is better for everyone, barring a foggy morning.

Are there any MR340 Vets out there who have the Actual GPS Cords for these checkpoints?

Well, no sleeping at Lexington or you're out!  Sleep is allowed at Waverly but it's a terrible place to sleep because of the railroad tracks.  If you can push on to Miami, that's pretty good sleeping and lots of guys catch a few hours there.  Glasgow has a campground and showers.  Katfish Katy's the same.  Jeff City is all set up for hospitality.  Hermann too.  Not much at Klondike.

Should be food at Lexington, Waverly, Miami, Glasgow, etc.  But this is no guarantee.  Best bet is to find a group of paddlers you can stick with and get to know their ground crew.  You'll no doubt get adopted.  Tell them at Waverly what you'd need in Miami and give them the cash to get it.  They'll have it for you and so on down the line.  Seen it happen every year.  Heck, the safety boat pilots even get adopted!

thanks Scott, that brings me to my  next question, we can push on late into the night if we wish, and there will be someone at check points if we arrive ahead of time?

Our lead safety boat stays ahead of the first racer and sets up each checkpoint.  He's got 100 hp.  Nobody should pass him.

Scott;  Why do the leg average MPH differ so much.  I would assume part of it is day vs night.  Otherwise, are there some obstacles that may make the difference.
Thanks

The checkpoint times are spaced out to allow people to do most of their paddling during the day, if they wish.  For example, if you get to Waverly right at the cutoff time of 9pm, you can spend the night, get on the river at 5:30am, and still make the 11am cutoff at Miami averaging 5.8 mph.
