At least it's not a Jayhawk boat.  Looks great!

Bryan, that is awesome!  I was also thinking about a custom paint job.  is there such a thing as "too" obsesive?  when it comes to paddling, I don't think so!  Though my better half might beg to differ.

I can't wait to see the boat!

A paddlers perspective. Three pictures shot from a kayak cockpit by three paddlers. In each shot the camera was held by a paddler in right hand. Three different kayaks: a ICF K1, a sea kayak and an unlimited racing kayak. Three locations: Sweden, Montana and Colorado. Three DSLR cameras or more importantly three different focal lengths of lenses: 12, 17 and 20 mm. Time: late fall or winter.

Suggestion: rather use your waterproof camera!

If I tried to take a picture in that IFC K1, I would just fall over.  Man, that thing is a toothpick!  Anyone know the specks on that - is it really only 17' long?

In these three pictures the focal length of lenses (a view angle) has stronger impact than a kayak length.

I need that 10mm wide angle lens to make my Thunderbolt look like a needle ...  Smiley

After 2 week break (work + travel) I am back on water.

A couple of pictures from yesterday paddling on the Horsetooth Reservoir in northern Colorado:

We are not completely frozen yet.

I am not very active on Flickr, nevertheless, I have posted about 250 pictures there. Recently, Flickr implemented stats. It means that photographers can keep track of which images are most popular, what their viewers are looking for and where they’re coming from.

So, I posted 10 mostly viewed pictures from my Flickr photostream:

http://photokayaker.fit2paddle.com/C1666358270/E20071228211819/index.html

Most of these 10 pictures are related to paddling. Sisson Nuclues kayak appears in 5 of them, WSBS Thunderbolt kayak and Spencer X-treme are in single pictures. All photos contain water in some form, even if it is tea in a cup. I believe that 8 of them were shot with Pentax Optio W10, one with Optio WP and one with Canon EOS 10D.

Marek,

Love the photos...especially #1...beautiful!...#4 appeals to me as I'm a big hot tea drinker (especially this time of year). The still water and reflection in #5 is surreal. Keep up the great work.

Marek's photography has always inspired me.  So, here are six Marek-inspired kayaking photos.  I was paddling on the Kaw last Sunday and shot these.  Enjoy.

...
It's not a Sisson Nucleus, but it gets the job done.

...
Swift Modulous Mid, an excellent paddle that I'd recommend to anyone.

...
Snow and rip rap -- not my usual paddling environment!

...
Angles and patters, the usual photographic subject.

...
A raptor perched on the same railroad bridge.

...
Part of the Kansas City skyline viewed from near the mouth of the Kaw River.

Out on the Platte River in Missouri today.  Not training, just pleasure paddling and shooting photos.  I was chasing a big male bald eagle until he got tired of me and flew away from the river.  Then I heard a river otter huffing his displeasure at me being on the river.  Hope you enjoy a little winter kayaking photography.

...
Standing on the ice watching me float by.
